Anglers 17 and older need a Texas fishing license with a freshwater or saltwater endorsement. Buy one online from Texas Parks & Wildlife.
Fish free in state parks

Check bag & size limits
Limits change by species and some lakes have their own rules. Look them up in the current Texas Outdoor Annual before you keep a fish.
Watch wind & water
Wind, lake levels and currents decide which spots are safe and fishable. Check the forecast, and wear a life jacket on the water.
