Some Halloween weekends ask you to choose between the football and everything else. This one asks you to get organized. Baylor starts the Texas-interest slate on Friday night in Orlando, then Saturday moves from an early doubleheader to Fort Worth in the afternoon and Austin after dark. There is room for costumes, a neighborhood stop and a decent meal in that schedule, but probably less room for pretending you can be in three places at once. The good news is that the games have distinct windows and different reasons to watch. Treat this as a statewide viewing guide for October 30–31, rather than a prediction sheet. All kickoff times below are Central, and the linked school schedules remain the place to check for changes.
Baylor opens the weekend on Friday
Baylor visits UCF on Friday, October 30, with a listed 6:30 p.m. kickoff on ESPN. The Bears’ official schedule makes this the first appointment of the weekend, a useful detail for anyone automatically saving college football for Saturday. It is an away game in Orlando, so a Waco watch party and a trip to McLane Stadium are very different plans. If your Friday already belongs to high school football, this is the one to record or follow between stops. For neutral viewers, the appeal is the conference matchup itself: a chance to start the weekend with a Texas program before Saturday’s crowded screen schedule takes over. No elaborate party is required. An agreed channel, an actual start time and food ready before kickoff will do.
Saturday morning has two Texas stories at once
At 11 a.m. Saturday, Arizona visits Texas Tech in Lubbock on ESPN, while SMU plays at Syracuse on ESPN2. The Red Raiders’ schedule and Mustangs’ schedule confirm those competing windows. That is an early choice between a home atmosphere on the South Plains and a Texas team playing on the road in ACC country. If you are watching with fans of both teams, settle the main-screen arrangement before the opening possession. A second screen is helpful only when somebody can still hear the game they came to watch. The schedules offer two different games; the household does not need to manufacture a third over the remote.
Texas Tech’s official preview lists both the Red Raiders and Arizona at 6–1 overall and 3–1 in Big 12 play entering the matchup, with Tech coming off its first loss. That gives the game a concrete competitive frame without requiring a dramatic claim about the entire season. Watch how the home team begins: its early possessions, how cleanly it handles routine situations and whether the crowd stays involved when a drive stalls. Those are viewing questions, not advance knowledge of a game plan. Readers heading to Lubbock can use our Galaxy Stadium gameday guide, then confirm current entry and traffic instructions with Texas Tech’s official gameday page.
Fort Worth gets the afternoon window
Kansas visits TCU at 2:30 p.m. Saturday on FS1, according to the Horned Frogs’ official schedule. TCU is calling the event Haunting at The Carter, giving fans a Halloween afternoon at the stadium before the evening’s other plans. An afternoon kickoff can suit fans who want the stadium experience and still hope to do something afterward. It does not guarantee an early exit, an easy drive or a precise end time. Give the game its full window and make any evening commitment flexible. For visitors, our Amon G. Carter Stadium guide is the starting point for orientation; current school instructions should settle ticket, gate and parking questions.
Austin carries the football into Halloween night
Mississippi State at Texas is listed for 6:30 p.m. Saturday at DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium on ESPN. The Texas game center identifies the date, venue and television assignment and showed the game as sold out when checked for this preview. Ticket availability can change, especially on resale platforms, so follow official links and read the purchase conditions before paying. For families watching at home, this is the window most likely to intersect with neighborhood Halloween plans. Decide whether you are watching live, joining late or saving the game. There is no prize for planning an elaborate evening that nobody enjoys because half the group is checking the score from the driveway.
Fans going to Austin should work backward from their gate and seat rather than from kickoff alone. Time for parking, the walk in and entry belongs in the schedule. Our DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium guide helps with the layout, while the university’s current information should govern event policies. A costume that works in a living room may be awkward in a crowded seating row. Before taking props, masks or an unusual bag, check the venue rules instead of assuming Halloween creates an exception. For a group, choose a meeting location that is easy to describe and agree on a fallback if messages arrive late. Those little decisions are much easier before everybody is walking in a different direction.

Build a Saturday that leaves something for everyone
This is a selected major-college slate, not every Texas program’s schedule. The useful thing is its shape: a Friday game, two early Saturday options, an afternoon game and an evening finish. Choose the game you most want to see, then fit the rest around it. That approach works better than treating every telecast as mandatory and every other person in the house as an interruption. If you are hosting, tell people whether the invitation means serious game watching or a social gathering with football on. Both can be good afternoons. They just call for different volume levels, seating arrangements and expectations about how closely anybody is following third down.
Travelers should be equally clear about the destination. Baylor and SMU are away this weekend; a home stadium guide is useful for a later trip, not evidence of a home game now. Texas A&M’s official schedule has no October 31 game, with its next listed contest at South Carolina on November 7. Avoid building a College Station game plan around the assumption that everybody plays on Halloween. Use the Aggies’ schedule to confirm that gap, and our Texas sports schedules to explore additional options. The weekend has enough real football without adding a game that is not there.
If you only have one window, give it your attention and enjoy it. A good college-football Saturday can be one game with friends, a road broadcast during a quiet lunch or an afternoon in a stadium you have wanted to visit. Check your provider’s access before the first snap, leave travel time around an in-person game and keep a little room for the rest of Halloween. This weekend’s attraction is its variety: different campuses, conferences and settings connected by Texas fans watching the same sport in very different ways. The best plan gets you to the part you care about without turning the whole day into a scheduling argument.
